Hello there,

I'm Jade!

I am the face of Once Upon a Princess KC | Princess Jade KC and I am so happy you are here! A little bit about me, I will graduate from Kansas State University in December 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Science. I have applied to graduate school for the University of Missouri's online Child Life program with dreams of becoming a Certified Child Life Specialist.

Performing is a passion of mine, past musical theater roles include, Irene/Folly Girl in Crazy for You, Miss Hannigan in Annie, and Paulette in Legally Blonde the Musical. My love of Disney and performing led me to create Once Upon a Princess KC | Princess Jade KC in the spring of 2019 to bring dreams to life for little ones in my community.

In June of 2024, I competed in the National American Miss Kansas pageant where I was awarded first runner-up for Miss Kansas, first runner-up for Miss Personality, and I won the Talent portion of the pageant singing Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid.

With extensive experience performing and a deep knowledge of child development, I strive to create magical moments for your family to cherish for a lifetime!

The Sugar Princess

Written and Illustrated by Jade Ratterman

I am overjoyed to announce the release of my children's book! The Sugar Princess is a fairytale non-fiction about my Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis in 2010. This child-friendly work depicts the crucial pieces of the experience that I remember. This book has been a work in progress since pre-pandemic 2020, what started as a class project has grown into a published piece. I am thrilled to share my story with those who choose to dive in and continue spreading awareness for the disease that affects so many. Diabetes may be a part of my life, but it does not define me.
